PM will stick to resolution not to take salary until economy recovers

CYBERJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he is sticking with his resolution not to take his salary.

He said he will only do so once the economy recovers.

"I will not take any salary and a 20 per cent deduction for the others (member of parliaments) as long as the economy doesn't recover," he told reporters after the Cabinet retreat, here, today.

Anwar previously had said he would not receive any salary, both as Prime Minister and as Finance Minister.

Cabinet ministers have also agreed to a 20 per cent pay cut until Malaysia reaches economic recovery, he said.
