Cultural and sports centre project in Kg Annah Rais currently in planning stages

PADAWAN: The construction project for a cultural and sports centre in Kampung Annah Rais is currently in meticulous planning stages, requiring thorough processes to ensure the project's smooth execution, according to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS).

Sarawak's Assistant Minister of Transport, Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, emphasised the importance of detailed planning, which involves securing the villagers' consent regarding land acquisition, geographical site considerations, design, and other relevant factors.

According to Jerip, the project aims to transform Kampung Annah Rais into a living cultural village in Sarawak and to further develop it as a tourism product in the state.

Jerip, who also serves as the state assemblyman for Mambong, highlighted the project's potential impact on the local Bidayuh community in Padawan. The cultural centre is envisioned as an information hub and training ground for the cultural practices of the Bidayuh people.

"With the establishment of this cultural centre, Annah Rais is poised to become a strategic tourist destination in the Padawan area," he said.

Jerip's comments were made during his visit to the project site, which is part of the Greater Kuching Development Coordination Agency (GKCDA) in Kampung Annah Rais, on Wednesday.
