Federal govt allocates RM58mil for flood-damaged roads in Johor

JOHOR BARU: The federal government has allocated approximately RM58 million for the repair of 10 federal roads in Johor affected by the Northeast Monsoon (MTL), including key routes such as FT3 (Johor Baru-Endau), FT91 (Kota Tinggi-Kluang), and FT50 (Batu Pahat-Mersing).

According to a report by Media Digital Johor, this funding was announced by Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi following his post-flood inspection of the FT3 Johor Baru-Endau road, which was one of the routes significantly impacted by the seasonal flooding.

"Out of the total funds, RM21.2 million is designated for road surface repairs, while another RM7.95 million is set aside for upgrading drainage and sewer systems.

"Additionally, the restoration of collapsed slopes is expected to cost RM27.31 million, and a further RM1.6 million is earmarked for repairing damaged bridges," the report said.

During the inspection, Nanta also announced an upgrade for four locations along the Kota Tinggi-Mersing road, with an investment totalling RM120 million.
