Cuepacs welcomes early deadline for civil servants to update information in Padu database

KUALA LUMPUR: The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) said an early deadline for civil servants to update their information in the Central Database Hub (Padu) would allow the relevant authorities to corroborate the provided information.

Its secretary-general Abdul Rahman Mohd Nordin said it was crucial for civil servants particularly to show their support for the initiative to encourage others to follow through.

"We welcome the announcement (for civil servants to register by Feb 15) because it will also make it easier for us to check the information given such as their salary and others.

"It will also ease aid for the civil servants," he said when contacted.

Only 1,367,324 people have registered for Padu as of Monday.

This figure accounts for only approximately 4.7 per cent of Malaysians aged 18 and above, while the system targets enrollment from around 29.8 million people.

Public Service Department director-general Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz had issued a circular dated Jan 17, calling all civil servants at federal and state levels to promptly update their information and data in Padu by Feb 15.

The circular was addressed to secretaries-general of all ministries, all heads of departments at the federal-level, state secretaries and heads of all statutory bodies at the federal-, state-, and local government- levels.

Wan Dahlan had said the matter was brought up by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during a National Economic Action Council session on Jan 14.
