Fahmi rebuts reports: No Pardons Board talks in today's cabinet meeting

KUALA LUMPUR: There is no discussion on matters related to the Pardons Board, including on former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib's application for his pardon in today's cabinet meeting.

Government spokesperson Fahmi Fadzil said this when asked on news reports that the board would meet on the third week of this month.

"I don't know where the media get their information from," he said, urging the media to be careful and not simply quoting sources wihout verifying first.

Early of this month, Najib's lawyer Tan Sri Shafee Abdullah had dismissed a Channel NewsAsia (CNA) report that the Pardons Board would meet this month.

Shafee was quoted saying Najib's defence team did not receive any updates on their application as of December last year
