Kota Kinabalu to hold city clean-up initiative

KOTA KINABALU: The Kota Kinabalu city council will take steps towards environmental stewardship with the launch of 'KK Cleanup Day 1.0: Jalan Jati" on Feb 3, with the event to also host the launch of My City, My Responsibility 1.0 and the "Clean My Village" Challenge'.

The city council, in a Facebook post on Jan 25, revealed that the event would coincide with the 24th anniversary of Kota Kinabalu's city status.

The event, which will take place from 7am to 11am, will be officiated by Assistant Minister to the state's Chief Minister Datuk Abidin Madingkir as well as a representative in charge of the Kota Kinabalu City Hall.

This initiative invites the residents of Kota Kinabalu to actively participate in the cleanliness movement, taking charge of their localities and contributing to the city's reputation as a clean and green urban space.

"Don't forget to demonstrate your support for this program by taking part in cleanliness initiatives in your respective areas," the post said, while encouraging its target audience to uphold the spirit of "I am a resident of a clean and green city."
