2,276 flood victims recorded in T'ganu, Pahang, Kelantan, Johor as of noon today- Nadma

KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood victims in Terengganu, Pahang, Kelantan and Johor dropped to 2,276 people at 23 relief centres as of noon today, compared to 2,953 people at 38 relief centres this morning.

According to the latest report from the National Disaster Control Centre of the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), the flood victims in Terengganu comprise 1,191 people at 10 PPS in Dungun, 22 people at two relief centres in Besut and 15 people at one relief centre in Hulu Terengganu.

In Kelantan, the victims are Tanah Merah (three relief centres with 272 victims), Kuala Krai (two relief centres with 32 victims) and Pasir Puteh (28 victims at one relief centre).

In Pahang, two relief centres are still operating, one each in Kuantan and Ropin, with 468 victims and 22 victims, respectively.

In Johor, the flood situation has not changed with 197 victims still housed in one relief centre in Mersing and 29 victims in one relief centre in Kota Tinggi.

Several rivers in Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Pahang, Perlis, Sabah, Selangor and Terengganu are still reported to be at a dangerous level.

They are Sungai Endau at Kluang and Mersing, Sungai Punggai, Sungai Johor and Sungai Sedili Kecil in Kota Tinggi (Johor), Sungai Kedah at Kota Setar (Kedah), Sungai Pahang at Kuantan and Sungai Rompin (Pahang), Sungai Arau (Perlis), Sungai Kinabatangan (Sabah), Sungai Klang at Petaling (Selangor), Sungai Dungun and Sungai Terengganu in Hulu Terengganu (Terengganu).

According to Nadma 42 roads are closed due to floods, damaged bridges, and collapsed roads and slopes, including Selatan in Batang Padang, Perak, Jalan Bukit Jugra in Kuala Langat, Selangor and Jalan Petri Jaya in Kota Tinggi, Johor. – BERNAMA
