Man found dead with head trapped between bank's shutter door and floor for 6 hours

SHAH ALAM: A man in his 50s died in a freak accident after his head was pinned between the automatic shutter door and the floor of a bank in Kota Kemuning for six hours early this morning.

Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the victim was seen entering the premises at 11.48pm on Jan 1 via the bank's closed circuit television.

"He was in an intoxicated state and had lied down at the front of the entrance to the automated teller machine area.

"At midnight on Jan 2, the automatic shutter door began to close. It caused the victim's neck to be stuck between the shutter door and the floor.

"At 6am later, the shutter door reopened. The victim was declared dead at the scene by a medical assistant from the Tuanku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang," he said today.

Iqbal said there were no criminal elements and no other injuries were found on the victim's body.

He added that no identification documents were found on the victim and they were checking to ascertain if he was a homeless man.

He said investigations were conducted under a sudden death report.

Iqbal said they received initial reports from the public at 7.29am about a man who was found unconscious in front of the bank.
