MPKB identifies eight business premises which hired foreigners

KOTA BARU: Kota Baru Municipal Council -Islamic City (MPKB-BRI) has identified eight business premises which have hired foreigners as their workers.

The council, in a statement, said the council traced this during a massive crackdown yesterday at the 'Mini Dhaka' area in Kota Baru.

"During yesterday's operation, we detected eight business premises which hired foreigners.

"We have inspected the outlets and three of them were found operating the business without licences," the statement stated.

During the operation, a trader was issued with a compound notice for breaching trade regulations.

"MPKB also sealed 20 types of goods from the trader," it said.

Seven local traders mostly women, operating at nearby Pohon Pinang wet market were ordered to apply for their business licence.

Yesterday, four children were among nearly 300 undocumented foreigners caught by state enforcement agencies in a special operation codenamed 'Ops Kutip' carried out in the town area.

The operation in an area now referred to as Kelantan's 'Mini Dhaka', was jointly carried out between the Immigration department, the police and Kota Baru Municipal Council.
