Water supply restored in Seri Delima after repairs completed

GEORGE TOWN: Residents of Seri Delima can now breathe a sigh of relief as the water supply resumes following the successful completion of urgent pipe diversion work that began early on Jan 31.

State assemblyman for Seri Delima, Connie Tan Hooi Peng, announced via Facebook that neighbourhoods such as Jalan Akuarium, Island Glades, Island Park, and Lengkok Bawah were among the first to see water return to their taps by midday.

Tan's statement came after Penang Water Supply Corporation's (PBAPP) completed the efforts to resolve the disruption caused by the maintenance works.

The restoration of water services is crucial for daily operations, from residential needs to business activities in Bayan Baru.

Buletin Mutiara, in a report, said Mahsuri Community Village Management Committee chairman Syed Baharuddin Syed Hashim confirmed that his area, which includes Mahsuri near Bayan Baru, had a consistent water supply throughout the morning, enabling businesses to operate as usual.

As a contingency plan, PBAPP provided two water tank units in Mahsuri to cater to residents, particularly those residing in high-rise buildings. Syed Baharuddin emphasised that these tanks, refilled by PBAPP in the morning, were prepared for any potential water shortages that might arise during the repair period.

While most areas reported a steady water flow, the authorities were ready with alternative measures to ensure that residents and businesses faced minimal disruption.

For more information on the water supply status or further assistance, residents are encouraged to stay connected with official updates from PBAPP and local representatives.
