MCPF offers RM20,000 reward for leads into Zayn Rayyan murder

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) is offering a reward of RM20,000 to any party that helps the police catch the suspect who killed six-year-old autistic boy Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin.

Selangor MCPF deputy chairman, Datuk Seri A. Thaiveegan said the reward would be channeled to the Selangor police in an effort to help solve the case.

"Selangor MCPF is ready to offer a reward of RM20,000 to anyone who can help provide information to the police leading to the arrest of the suspect.

"This is an initiative of the Selangor MCPF which has been agreed upon by our chairman, Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah," he said at a press conference at the Shah Alam district police headquarters, here, today.

Thaiveegan, who is also the former Penang police chief, attended the press conference chaired by Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

Hussein said police have so far not found anything solid to point towards the individual involved in the case.

"Police are facing difficulty with the case. We have yet to find a single physical piece of evidence or verbal evidence that seems to point towards an individual who committed this act.

"Even though we have tried and various efforts have been made from the beginning of December until now, for more than two months we have been investigating at the location and also other places that we think are appropriate.

"We have also used technical assistance, but we still haven't found anything that can lead to the arrest of the individual, but police are still continuing efforts to track down the culprit.

"Police have checked 5,786 individuals and 216 vehicles, 17 individuals were detained and 243 statements have been taken.

"In addition, footage from 15 closed circuit camera systems (CCTV) were inspected and 168 items of case goods were collected at the scene and various other places.

"A total of 262 deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) samples from individuals taken and forensic examinations were also carried out on 42 houses," he said.
