Sungai Kenjur water surge tragedy: Four-year-old victim found dead

TAPAH: Another victim of the water surge incident in Sungai Kenjur near Kampung Poh, Bidor, was found dead tonight.

Tapah district police chief, Superintendent Mohd Naim Asnawi, said the victim, identified as four-year-old Hafif Muhayat Azam, was found at 9.50pm with the help of villagers.

"The victim's body was found in the river in a prone position and stuck under tree roots about 600 metres from the area where his family was picnicking.

"The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. This discovery brings the total number of missing victims to two," he told reporters at the scene, here, tonight.

The victim's identification was done by his aunt, Aznur Radin Mustapha Amiruddin.

Hafif Muhayat is the second child of Aszura and her husband, Azam Radin Mustapha Amiruddin.

The other two missing children are Hanna Mikayla and Hanum Marissa.

Checks at the scene also found that 12 villagers actively conducting voluntary searches out of concern for the victim's family.

Earlier, it was reported that the family's picnic plan turned into tragedy when the mother, Aszura Bani, 37, was found dead while three of her children went missing after being swept away by the water surge while playing in the river.
