Pas extends CNY greetings

KUALA LUMPUR: Pas has wished Malaysian Chinese in the country a Happy Chinese New Year.

In a statement, Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan conveyed the festive greetings on behalf of the Islamic political party.

"Pas wishes all Malaysian Chinese a joyous New Year, hoping that the celebration will continue to be vibrant this year despite the current economic and business challenges.

"Chinese New Year in Malaysia goes beyond mere calendar dates, it's a celebration deeply rooted in tradition and culture, embodying values such as family importance, communal welfare, love, compassion, camaraderie, and new beginnings.

"At the core of our society and nation, the family is a pivotal cornerstone, reflecting our current quality of life and shaping our future trajectory. A content, thriving, and morally upright family contributes to the prosperity and advancement of our society and nation.

"Conversely, a family lacking in these virtues risks fostering a society and nation that are fractured, chaotic, and inferior," he said in a statement today.

Takiyuddin also urged all parties to reaffirm their commitment to upholding noble and exemplary values, especially with the spirit of the New Year and fresh beginnings.

"Let us not only strive for the well-being of our families but also work together to safeguard our beloved society and nation from the dangers and disillusionments that arise from the erosion of these values.

"Gong xi fa chai. Long wu jiu tian. May our successes and aspirations reach new heights this year."
