Johor MB confirms exco reshuffle next week

JOHOR BARU: Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi today confirmed a reshuffle to the Barisan Nasional-led state government involving a number of portfolios will take place next week.

The reshuffle, he said, was meant to strengthen the management and administration of the state.

"Yes, there is (a reshuffle). However, the reshuffle will be minor.

"Insya-Allah (God willing), (the new state executive council lineup) will be unveiled next week," he told reporters after chairing the Johor Umno liaison committee meeting here today.

Present were Johor Umno liaison committee deputy chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, secretary Datuk Abdul Halim Suleiman and Pasir Gudang Umno division chief Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

During a Chinese New Year gathering at his official residence on Thursday, Onn Hafiz had told the crowd who attended the event that he would be taking over the state tourism portfolio from Tenggaroh assemblyman K. Raven Kumar.

The announcement triggered speculation that Onn Hafiz was expected to undertake a reshuffle to the state executive council.

Onn Hafiz previously held the state tourism, youth and sports portfolio before he was sworn in as the 19th Johor menteri besar.
