Onn Hafiz tables RM4.21million surplus in Johor Budget 2024

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Johor Menteri Besar tabled a RM4.21 million surplus in its 2024 budget, at the Fourth Meeting of the Second Session of the 15th Johor State Legislative Assembly, held at Bangunan Sultan Ismail in Kota Iskandar, near here, today.

Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the budget themed 'driving development, prospering the people' (Memacu Pembangunan, Menyejahterakan Rakyat) recorded surplus for two years consecutively.

The Johor Budget 2024 forecasted RM1.804 billion against estimated expenditure of RM1.799 billion, which resulted in a surplus budget of RM1.163 billion for operation expenditures.

The projected revenue reflects an increase of RM69.9 million or 4.03 per cent compared with the previous year.

Based on the estimates, RM858.93 million is expected from direct taxes, while RM31.67million will be generated from indirect taxes.

Aligned with the six pillars of the Johor Maju agenda, the budget 2024 is supported by 29 strategies and 99 initiatives. It stands as a comprehensive budget linked to future planning.

The six pillars are government administration, economic development, social safety nets, facilities and basic needs, safety, cleanliness, and environmental sustainability and Johor youths.

Onn Hafiz attributed the surplus to successful revenue collection, which amounted to RM1.767 billion, surpassing 100 per cent of the estimated RM1.734 billion income in the Johor Budget 2023.
