Nepali factory worker drowns after slipping into sea while making video call to sister

KUANTAN: The body of a Nepalese man, who was reported missing at sea after falling from a rocky area near the Teluk Tongkang beach at Teluk Cempedak here, was found today.

The remains of Ganesh Rana, 22, was found at Pantai Sepat, about 18km from where he was last seen, at 7.30am today.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Zulfadli Zakaria said members of the public spotted the body at the beach.

"The victim was reported missing after falling into the waters off Teluk Tongkang beach on Monday (Feb 12) and his remains were found 18km away at Pantai Sepat. The body has been handed over to the police," he said in a statement.

Ganesh, a factory worker, was reported to have gone to the beach with some friends and was sitting in a rocky area.

He is believed to have slipped before falling into the sea while making a video call to his sister about 4.30pm.
