KOTA TINGGI: A holiday outing for a family at Tanjung Balau Beach near Bandar Penawar here in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holiday ended in tragedy when one of the members drowned this morning.
A spokesperson for the Johor Fire and Rescue Department said they received an emergency call at about 10.13am regarding an incident involving a 25-year old victim.
Nine members from the Penawar Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the location before the search and rescue (SAR) operation was mobilised.
"We used surface search techniques in the surrounding area before successfully finding the victim at 11.02am at a distance of 10 meters from the location where he was reported missing.
"However, the victim was confirmed dead and the body was handed over to the police for further action," he said.
