Police assisting AAIB in probing Kapar air crash

KLANG: The police are assisting the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) in further investigations into the air crash in Kampung Tok Muda, Kapar, which claimed the lives of two Malaysians yesterday.

Klang Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner S. Vijaya Rao stated that the authorities have identified two crash locations, with the primary focus of the investigation centered on the aircraft crash site.

He added that another location of investigation is approximately 500 metres away, where the wing debris of the aircraft was found.

"We have identified two locations, the first being where the plane crashed.

"Another location is where the wing debris fell, approximately 500 metres from the crash site. Therefore, the police are assisting the AAIB in investigating both of these identified locations," he said during a press conference at Hospital Tunku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR), today.

Asked about the confirmation over reports mentioning the aircraft not containing a black box, he said "Such issue is technical and this falls under the jurisdiction of the AAIB".

Vijaya mentioned that the police have recorded statements from five members of the public who witnessed the crash yesterday.

He also urged the public to not share any videos and pictures relating to the crash to respect the victims' family members.

"I urge everyone to respect the sensitivity of the families involved."

Earlier, Vijaya confirmed that the post-mortem examination on the two victims has concluded, adding that multiple injuries sustained by them were the cause of death

Meanwhile, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan in a press conference yesterday confirmed the deaths of the two victims onboard.

He said the 1,300-kilogramme aircraft, belonging to a recreational flight company, plunged and buried more than two metres deep.
