Single mother of four receives BMR housing aid from SESB

RANAU: A single mother of four, who had to live with her relatives because she did not own a house, has received a Mesra Rakyat Assistance (BMR) house from Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB).

Rose @ Roslina Daimin, 45, said since her husband's death, the family had struggled to find a place to stay due to financial hardship.

"I am deeply moved and extremely grateful for this assistance, especially considering that my children and I have relied solely on the kindness of relatives for shelter," said Rose upon receiving the keys to the house in Kampung Langsat.

The handover ceremony was officiated by Sabah Deputy Chief Minister II and Local Government and Housing Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam.

Joachim said SESB's CSR programme was timely in improving the lives of people regardless of their race.

"Congratulations to the recipients, and my gratitude to SESB for providing a house equipped with three bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a toilet.

"The Sabah government welcomes programmes like this. This initiative demonstrates SESB's commitment to assisting the government in providing housing for those in need.

"The housing assistance programme aligns with the government's efforts to ensure the welfare and well-being of those in rural areas are looked after," said the Kundasang assemblyman.

The selection of BMR housing assistance was based on the recommendations from the Community Development Leaders Unit (UPPM).

Also in attendance were Ranau Member of Parliament Datuk Jonathan Yasin, SESB chairman Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau, and SESB chief executive officer Mohd Yaakob Jaafar.
