"Moh Karnival Makmur" boosts ties between Pahang govt and public

MARAN: The Pahang government's "Moh Karnival Makmur" serves as a platform for the people to obtain first-hand information on various initiatives by the state government and showcase products by local entrepreneurs.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the statewide carnival was aimed at allowing government agencies both at federal- and state-level to provide vital information on their products, and services.

"During the tabling of the 2024 Budget last year, the Pahang government approved RM5 million for the carnival which will be held at all the 11 districts in Pahang. The carnival began in Lipis last month and is held in Chenor (Maran) this weekend before going to it will be organised in Bera.

"During the event, the public can obtain the latest information and explanation on various initiatives by the state government including Bantuan Prihatin Pahang (cash aid), Pahang Pride Kasih (health card programme for senior citizens) and housing schemes.

"The carnival serves as a platform for entrepreneurs within the district to display and promote locally-made products. Some food products are only popular within a certain district but unknown to others so now the carnival allows them (entrepreneurs) to sell the products and obtain the necessary information to expand their businesses," he told reporters after opening the 'Moh Karnival Makmur' at Dataran Indera Pahlawan Chenor near here today.

Meanwhile, Wan Rosdy said the Pahang government introduced many programmes to enhance the welfare of the people especially those from the B40 group, but many were still in the dark over the initiatives.

"The carnival is an effort to go to the ground to inform the public about the ongoing initiatives and allow community leaders to foster close ties with the people. I realised that the carnival concept allows everyone, especially locals, to get involved and they look forward to participating in various activities," he said.

The three-day Maran-level 'Moh Karnival Makmur' which began yesterday (Feb 16) offers various programmes including games for children, exhibitions booths setup by uniformed bodies, performance by local artists and a speedboat race.

Also present was Chenor constituency coordinator Datuk Seri Shahaniza Shamsuddin.
