Trusan poised to become key transit hub

LAWAS: The small district of Trusan is set to transform into a bustling transit town for visitors from across Sarawak as well as neighbouring Sabah and Brunei Darussalam, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit said.

Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the new coastal road networks passing through Trusan are expected to significantly boost the local economy.

During his Chinese New Year visit to the residence of Penghulu Liaw Soon Teck, Amar emphasised that the plans for this project have been finalised and the site has been approved, signalling a revival in the area's development.

"The blueprint for this initiative is ready, and the site has been officially approved," he said, suggesting a near-future commencement of the development.

He also disclosed that the Sarawak government has slated various other developments, including the establishment of an Entrepreneurs' Pavilion, village expansion schemes, and housing projects.

"The first phase of the village expansion project across the river has started, and the construction of government housing has been given the green light.

"We are eager to see the economic activities that can be realised here," he added, outlining the government's commitment to regional growth.

Additionally, Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong announced that 2024 would witness other significant advancements such as the construction of the new Trusan Sub-District Office, an expanded airport, a port at Pulau Sari, a Mara Junior Science College (MRSM), and other facilities.
