Ministry to seek necessary information on M'sian NGO trio on FBI terrorist screening centre list

PUTRAJAYA: The Home Ministry will obtain the necessary information concerning three leaders from different Islamic non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Malaysia who were listed in the Terrorist Screening Centre (TSC) by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail confirmed that he has contacted the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain regarding the matter.

"I was also made aware of the case just a few days ago and have contacted the IGP to provide me a clear picture of the matter.

"

"What we know is that the FBI made a request on that.

"So, we must look into the accurate facts as I am not ready to give out hazy information," he said after launching the Immigration Department's passport office at the Shaftbury mall here today.

It was reported that three leaders from different Islamic NGOs in Malaysia, actively involved in managing aid to West Asia, have been listed in the FBI's TSC.

Confirming this was Op Ihsan secretariat chairman Jismi Johari, who said the Foreign Ministry has directed these individuals not to be involved in Op Ihsan, which oversees the delivery of humanitarian aid from Malaysia to the people of Palestine in Gaza.

Op Ihsan is coordinated by the Foreign Ministry and involves over 50 NGOs, including Global Peace Mission (GPM) Malaysia, Red A Humanitarian Development Global, Mercy Malaysia, Pertubuhan Ihsan Johor and the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisations (MAPIM).
