Johor Baru City Council hosts workshop to enhance music and creative arts skills

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) successfully hosted the first series of the Art Education and Creative Works Workshop at the Tunku Mahkota Ismail Youth Center here on Feb 17, Johor Digital Media reported.

The event was held to cultivate interest among locals, especially the youth, in music and creativity.

Running from 10 am to 4.30 pm, the workshop, in collaboration with Johor Music & Creative, offered a free music education programme to the city's residents.

It was divided into two sessions: performances and technical music interpretation through songs, along with group practice sessions.

The workshop was designed to provide participants with hands-on knowledge and exposure to music arts, both theoretically and practically, from professional musicians. It also aimed to train attendees to practise musical instrument skills professionally.

With plans to organise Series 2 and 3 in June and September respectively, the Art Education and Creative Works Workshop targets participation from Johor's children, specifically secondary school students, higher education institutions, MBJB employees, agencies with cultural clubs, and bands.

The workshop also aims to attract musicians, artists, and singers with basic knowledge of music, as well as instructors from professional musicians who have over five years of experience, are trendy, and have a social media following.
