GEORGE TOWN: A food delivery rider died after his motorcycle skidded at Jalan Bukit Gambir here this afternoon.
Photographs of the 27-year-old's body, partly inside the drain, have since gone viral.
Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Razlam Ab Hamid said the victim died at the scene due to severe injuries.
He said a post-mortem would be carried out to determine the actual cause of death.
"Initial investigation showed the victim was heading towards Jalan Yeap Chor Ee when he lost control of his machine, skidded and crashed into the divider.
"Due to the impact of the crash, the victim died at the scene instantly," he said today.
The case is probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
