National Audit Department renews cooperation pledge with MACC

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) strengthens ties with the National Audit Department via renewal of cooperation note.

The renewal of ties between the two agencies will not only strengthen anti-corruption efforts but also provide a new learning curve through joint collaboration and training for officers from the two agencies.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the note inked between Auditor-General Datuk Wan Suraya Mohd Radzi and himself today would pave the way for sharing of knowledge, information and training collaborations between officers at the National Audit Department and MACC.

He said both agencies had been working closely since 2012, and would be focusing on a new scope of cooperation in carrying out joint collaborations and training between the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Academy (Maca) and the National Audit Academy (NAA).

"The cooperation note will have a high impact on MACC supporting the government's efforts towards making Malaysia a country with integrity and free of corruption."

"This signing also reflects the National Audit Department's unwavering commitment to assist MACC in fighting corruption crimes and to improve administration, good governance and help reduce leakage in the administration of the country.

"MACC will continue to stay committed and consistent in combatting corrupt practices in the government procurement system, identifying leakages and making sure that government procurements are carried out in accordance with the rules and laws," he said.

He believes both agencies have a significant role to play in fighting graft and ensuring good governance at all government agencies, thus the joint collaboration between Maca and NAA is timely.
