Lecturers, bikers to complete Quran recitation during S'pore expedition to welcome Ramadan

KOTA BARU: A total of 66 participants, comprising lecturers and motorcycle riders (bikers), are embarking on a journey to collectively complete the recitation of the Quran from Kelantan to Singapore in welcoming Ramadan.

When met at the Sultan Ismail Petra International Islamic College University (KIAS), Muhammad Amiri Ab Ghani, the 'Ride To Khatam 3.0' programme director said that this effort aims to cultivate a culture of Quran recitation among the community, including bikers, through convoy stops at 10 mosques.

"A convoy of 40 motorcycles and eight cars will travel for four days starting today until Feb 25, covering over 800 kilometres (km). This event is organised by the Corporate Division of KIAS in collaboration with Kelantan Bikers and ZAG Centre, which focuses on Quranic Studies and Recitation in Singapore.

"We will journey through six states: Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Melaka, Negri Sembilan, Johor, and conclude in Singapore, while engaging in Quranic recitation, contemplation and completion," he told reporters after the Motorcycle Expedition Flag-off Ceremony for 'Ride To Khatam 3.0' at Nilam Puri here by KIAS Rector, Professor Emeritus Abdul Aziz Mohd Zain, here today (Feb 22).

Muhammad Amiri explained that during the motorcycle expedition, participants would stop at mosques in each state, where they recite one juzuk (part) of the Quran and will be welcomed by the local congregation.

"For this expedition, we are resuming our recitation from the 21st juzuk. In the previous 'Ride To Khatam 1.0' programme, we recited 10 juzuk during the journey in Kelantan since 2022.

"For the 'Ride To Khatam 2.0' programme, which involved a journey to the northern states last year, we completed reciting another 10 juzuk. In this current expedition, we expect to complete reciting the remaining 10 juzuk," he said.
