Defence Ministry assessing suitable candidates for LTAT chairman and chief executive posts

KUALA LUMPUR: The Defence Ministry is currently assessing suitable candidates from former Malaysian Armed Forces commanders to be appointed as the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) chairman.

Its minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the LTAT board was also finalising the list of credible candidates to fill the chief executive post, left vacant after the resignation of Datuk Ahmad Nazim Abd Rahman on Jan 31.

Khaled said the ministry was monitoring the situation and assured that the resignations would not impact or disrupt the operations of LTAT.

"LTAT is moving and operating as usual.

"Chief financial officer Mohammad Ashraf Md Radzi is currently the acting chief executive of LTAT, while Defence Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Isham Ishak is the acting LTAT chairman."

He said this in a response to a question from Datuk Khlir Mohd Nor (Perikatan Nasional-Ketereh) in Dewan Rakyat today.

Khlir had asked the minister to explain the actions taken by the Defence Ministry following the recent departure of three top LTAT officers.

After Ahmad Nazim, General Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor stepped down as LTAT chairman on Feb 8.

Over a week later, LTAT head of strategic asset allocation Dayanah Rogayah Omar tendered her resignation.

Meanwhile, Khaled said his ministry remained committed to monitoring and ensuring the operations and planned strategies of LTAT would be continued.

"The ministry's focus is to ensure that the funds are protected, and to ensure the stability and sustainability of LTAT funds in the long term," he added.
