Klang council raids illegal maternity care centre

KUALA LUMPUR: Royal Klang City Council (MBDK) raided an illegal maternity care centre in Bandar Bukit Raja here.

Its corporate communication director, Norfiza Mahfiz, said the raid by MBDK's licencing department and enforcement department was mounted after a public tip-off and the council's investigations.

She said the maternity care centre was illegally operating in a residential area and did not have a business licence.

"A compound was issued to the company representative, namely the employee, for operating without a licence under the 2013 UUK 3(1) of the Small Health and Beauty Care Centre Act by-laws.

"This is a serious offence as it involves babies and mothers giving birth, posing risks of negligence," she said.

Both departments also raided industrial premises operating without licences, causing disturbances at Jalan Haji Abdul Manan.

Norfiza said two compounds were issued under Section UUK3 of the Small Business and Industrial Licencing Act (MPK) 2007 for operating without valid licences.

"We will continue these enforcement efforts from time to time and will not compromise with any entity found violating regulations," she said.
