#NSTviral: 'I don't care what people say, she was meant to be my wife'

PASIR PUTEH: The relationship of a man and his visually impaired wife has caught the attention of netizens on TikTok.

Ahmad Qatadah Sauti, 28, said that he loves his wife very much despite the fact that she is a Person with Disabilities (PwD) who is visually impaired.

"I do not care what people say because for me, she is a very good wife who is interesting and beautiful to me," he said when he was asked to talk about his marriage to Siti Nor Aien Mohd Zawawi, 24.

According to Ahmad Qatadah, he accepted Siti Nor Aien as she is when they first met and he was very attracted to her personality.

He is also very grateful that his family did not object to their marriage and instead gave him the freedom to choose who he wanted to marry and settle down with.

"We got to know each other four years ago through a mutual friend of ours.

"After getting to know each other, we fell in love and we got engaged back in August 2021.

"Our families gave their blessings and we like and love each other very much, so we got married in February 2022. "I am more than happy to have her as my wife as I believe it was fate that brought us together," he said when contacted by Harian Metro.

Meanwhile, Ahmad's wife, Siti Nor Aien was also grateful because she married a man who loves her very much and accepts her regardless.

Siti Nor Aien is touched that her husband is loyal to her even though she is visually impaired and her eyesight deteriorated even further after she gave birth to their daughter who is now two years old.

"Actually from young I had problems and issues with my eyesight as I can only see colours, light and shadows only.

"But after I gave birth to our first child, I suffered from glaucoma (eye disease that can cause vision loss and blindness by damaging the optic nerve) which led to me being totally blind in my right eye.

"Initially I was down and dejected especially when there were those who said that Ahmad would regret having a wife who is handicapped like me.

"But my dear husband and our families especially my dear mother and father were very supportive and encouraged me until I was able to regain my self confidence once again," said Siti Nor Aien who is a full-time housewife.

According to her, her intention in putting herself forward on TikTok was to prove that someone who is a Person with Disabilities can be capable just like able bodied individuals.

"I have had a TikTok account for quite some time but I only became active after getting married.

"Initially I just chatted with my followers then I started sharing how I do make up apart from doing commentaries and selling products.

"There some comments that were mean and almost every day there are those who ask me how do I do this and that because of my very poor eyesight but now I have become somewhat immune to such comments and questions.

"However, through my TikTok account I have been able to open the eyes of many netizens that a Person with Disabilities (PwD) like me can do this and that and not have to beg like what many of them perceive," she said.
