Tourism industry players to be recognised in July awards

KUALA LUMPUR: To further boost the tourism sector in order to drive the country's economic growth, the Tourism Industry Awards 2024 (TIA 2024) will be held for the first time on July 26.

The event aims to recognise outstanding performers in the tourism industry and enhance their spirit to continue advancing in the sector.

TIA 2024 organising committee chairman Datuk Emmy Suraya Hussein said the event was an initiative by tourism industry players themselves, spearheaded by the Malaysia International Tourism Development Association (MITDA) in collaboration with the Malaysia Fashion Modelling Pageant Association (MFMPA) and Santai Travel.

"The inaugural awards ceremony will feature over 60 categories in the tourism industry. The organisation of this event is in line with our efforts to support the development of the tourism industry, ensuring its competitiveness and contributing to the country's economy.

"Through this event, we aim to provide motivation and encouragement for all tourism industry players to work harder and be more creative in contributing to the success of the country's tourism industry.

"By producing quality tourism players and services, we can help achieve the country's tourism targets in anticipation of Visit Malaysia Year 2026. Therefore, cohesive cooperation from all parties is crucial in achieving this goal," she added.
