KUANTAN: Two Orang Asli babies were among 24 leap year babies born at six government hospitals across Pahang today.
State Health director Datuk Dr Rusdi Abd Rahman said the babies, comprising 18 girls and six boys, were born between midnight and 11am.
He said the first leap year baby born in Pahang was a girl, weighing 3.71kg, at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital (Hoshas) in Temerloh at 12.18am.
"Seven mothers gave birth through caesarean section while the remaining delivered via natural birth. All the babies are reported in good health and stable.
"Nine babies were born at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital here followed by seven at Hoshas, four in Pekan Hospital and two in Kuala Lipis Hospital. Raub and Jengka Hospital recorded one delivery each," he said in a statement today.
