Anwar arrives in Melbourne to kickstart official visit [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has arrived in Melbourne to kickstart his official visit to Australia tonight.

In a post on his official Facebook account, Anwar said he would lead the Malaysian delegation to two major programmes.

"Azizah (Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail) and I arrived at Melbourne International Airport tonight for an official visit to Australia, leading the Malaysian delegation to two major programmes, namely the Malaysia-Australia Annual Leaders' Meeting (ALM) and the Asean-Australia Special Summit.

Anwar said the visit is on the invitation of his counterpart, Anthony Albanese, and will involve several meetings, roundtable discussions, and direct engagements with industry leaders in Melbourne, before heading to Canberra on the final day of the visit on March 7.

"I believe this visit will mark a significant development in the cooperation between the two countries through bilateral and multilateral platforms, as it has evolved from one stage to another and has become significant with the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) since 2021," he said.

"We will work fully to strengthen the Malaysia-Australia friendship besides creating the best opportunities and benefits for the people and the country," he added.
