Johor launches programme to boost awareness on women's reproductive cancer

JOHOR BARU: The Johor state government has officially launched the Women Cancer Reproductive Awareness (WCaRe) Johor programme today, as part of its commitment under the Third Pillar: Social Safety Net of the Johor 2024 Budget, Media Digital Johor reported.

With an allocation of RM120,000, the programme is designed to encourage women in Johor to undergo early screening for reproductive cancers voluntarily. This initiative falls under the Family Development Foundation of Darul Ta'zim (YPKDT) and the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN), highlighting the state's dedication to prioritising health care in its agenda for women's empowerment.

For the 2024 fiscal year, the State Government has allocated a total of RM1.7 million towards two major initiatives: RM1 million for women's empowerment and targeted groups, and RM770,000 for the empowerment and sustainability of women in Johor, which includes the WCaRe Johor programme.

The Johor State Government recognises and values the significant contributions of women to the development of the state, nation, and society. It urges women to take proactive steps towards independence, understanding their rights, and realising their potential, ultimately leading to improved living conditions.

The WCaRe Johor 2024 programme was inaugurated by Johor Women, Family and Community Development committee chairman Khairin-Nisa Ismail during the Johor State Women's Day Celebration 2024 at the Dewan Mutiara Johor Land, Bandar Dato' Onn, Johor Baru.
