Sabah targets to implement all RP4 projects this year

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah wants to ensure that all RM6.6 billion development projects approved under the Fourth Rolling Plan (RP4) of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) are implemented this year.

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said state and federal agencies had to make a concerted effort to meet the goal.

"For 2024, Sabah will receive a RM6.6 billion development fund for programmes such as premises development (tamu desa), Tuaran river restoration, flood mitigation, new school construction, upgrading and maintenance of dilapidated schools as well as the construction of new clinics.

"It is important that there is synergy between state and federal agencies to ensure prompt implementation of these projects for the people's benefit," he said in a statement after chairing the State Development Action Council meeting at Menara Kinabalu here.

Hajiji said the government agencies must take full advantage of technology, including digitalisation, to boost delivery services.

He also urged elected representatives and departmental heads to go to the ground and resolve the people's problems.

He said up to January, Sabah had spent RM4.9 billion, or 97.01 per cent, of the allocation under Third Rolling Plan of the 12MP.

He said the economy was expected to stabilise despite an uncertain global market.

"The government remains committed to efforts to attract high-impact investments through initiatives under the Madani Economy framework, National Energy Transition Roadmap and New Industrial Master Plan 2030.

"Among the sectors that will benefit from these strategies is construction," he said.

Present were Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, State Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong and Federal State Secretary Datuk Makhzan Mahyuddin.
