This year crucial for Sabah development, says governor

KOTA KINABALU: This year will be crucial for Sabah to ensure all initiatives and projects run according to plan, said Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.

He said the 12th Malaysia Plan ends in two years and he was confident Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor would step up development efforts for Sabah in that time.

"As it is, the chief minister, state cabinet and civil service continue to strive towards a noble goal of bolstering the economy," he said at the opening of the Sabah assembly here.

Juhar said the state government had plans and projections with the five-year 13MP (2026-2030) in mind.

"This will ensure all programmes and development projects are relevant to where the state and nation aspires to be," he said.

"I am certain also this year many initiatives and high-impact development programmes will be carried out, if it's not already launched, and bring positive 'game changing' benefits to the people," Juhar added.

He said ministries, departments and agencies needed to be more effective in collecting revenue for the state or even find new sources of income.
