Sufficient teachers in Sabah - Education Department

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has achieved an adequate level of teaching staff, with recruitment processes aligned to meet the specific needs of schools across the region, Sabah Media reported.

Sabah State Education Department director Datuk Raisin Saidin announced that the state has reached a 98 per cent fill rate for teacher positions.

"We are grateful to have received 212 new teachers on March 7, and we are expecting another group to join us in April to address the needs of schools requiring additional staffing," Saidin said during a school visit at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Likas, marking the first day of the school session.

The dynamic nature of teacher deployment, characterised by new arrivals and retirements, is closely monitored to ensure continuity and coverage.

"The process is dynamic because as new teachers come in, there are also retirements. We make sure to keep a balance," he said.

"At the moment, the most critical subject is PAI, which is the case everywhere in Sabah," Saidin added.
