Syed Saddiq claims no allocation given despite 3 rounds of negotiations

KUALA LUMPUR: Muar member of parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman says he has not received any allocations from the government despite having met with the Deputy Prime Minister three times to talk about it.

Syed Saddiq requested clarification on the matter from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

However, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa in the same reply said some RM300 million had been channelled for the implementation of several projects in the Muar constituency.

"Under the Fourth Rolling Plan of 2024, a total of 40 projects from various ministries have been approved by the Finance Ministry with a total allocation of RM316,530,700 for the Muar constituency.

"The Prime Minister's special allocation for parliamentary constituencies is only an addition to and complements the allocation (provided) under the Five-Year Malaysia Plan.

"The provision and distribution of these allocations must also adhere to existing policies and are subjected to the government's current financial capabilities."

Last year, Anwar announced that the government was willing to offer the opposition equal allocations given to MPs in the government bloc.

The opposition bloc, however, must go through the proper process to receive equal allocations and that proposal must be submitted to the Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadhillah Yusof.
