'All the best' if you choose to stick with PH, Pas man tells Zahid [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: A Pas leader says there is no need for Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to continue talking about the now-defunct Muafakat Nasional (MN).

This comes after Zahid reportedly said it was Pas that destroyed MN and that it should engage in "sweet talk" about wanting to revive the pact.

The Islamic party's information chief, Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said while he did not want to prolong the issue, he needed to remind Zahid about the "real reason" for MN's failure.

He claimed that when the pact fell part before the 15th general election (GE15), Umno leaders were already secretly working with Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders.

"In the end, it (BN-PH cooperation) happened after GE15. The common narrative is that it happened because of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's decree for the formation of a unity government."

Fadhli said he doubted that Barisan Nasional's (BN) decision to be a part of the unity government was purely down to the Agong's decree.

"If that were true, was it also because of a royal decree that BN would work with PH to form the state government in Perak even though it has other options to form a Malay-Muslim dominated government?

"Was it also because of a royal decree that BN was willing to work with PH to form a state government in Pahang?"

He also questioned Zahid's previous remarks about BN and PH's alliance enduring beyond GE16.

"Does this mean in the next election BN will continue to work with PH to take on Perikatan Nasional?"

Fadhli said Zahid should cite a royal decree for wanting to work with PH.

"For now if you still want to be with PH, then I wish you all the best."
