Transport, Finance ministries to work out Airport Development Fund mechanism, says Loke

KUALA LUMPUR: The Transport and Finance ministries are in the process of coming out with a mechanism for the Airport Development Fund (ADF).

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the ADF was part of the operating agreement inked between the federal government and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) today.

"So the ADF is applicable not only for airport development but also expansion of airport programmes," he told reporters.

ADF is a development trust account under Section 9 of the Financial Procedures Act 1957.

The development trust fund is to receive contributions from airport users, the public and also airlines, and does not involve contributions from government funds.

Loke was also asked when the affected stakeholders will start making contributions.

"The ADF will be set-up by (the two ministries). So, when to collect is depending on a particular project.

"ADF does not collect from all airports. It is only for airports which are involved in expansion projects," he said.
