Miri targeted as hub for pineapple-based product marketing

MIRI: The Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board (LPNM) aims to establish Miri as a continuous and consistent marketing hub for pineapple-based products, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

LPNM Director-General Mohd Khairuzamri Salleh said that the initiative would not only cater to potential visitors in Sarawak but also extend to tourists from neighbouring Brunei Darussalam. This move aligns with the Sarawak Government's aspiration to position the state as a major producer and exporter of agri-food products, including pineapples, by 2030.

During the Pineapple Promotion Programme and launch of Pineapple-Based Food Sales in Miri on Saturday, Khairuzamri highlighted the initiative's role in enhancing brand value, market networks, and the acceptance of local entrepreneurs' pineapple-based products in both domestic and international markets.

The programme serves as a promotional platform, introducing Miri's general public to a range of pineapple-based food products available in the market, crafted by entrepreneurs under LPNM's guidance. Nearly 10 types of pineapple-based foods, produced by entrepreneurs from Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia, are being sold throughout the month-long event, which runs until March 30.

LPNM's Sarawak branch distributed approximately 1,200 bags of Agro-Based Industry (IAT) products from within and outside Sarawak to visitors for free at the event site.
