Kelantan Pas calls on all quarters to 'open their eyes' against those who insult Islam

KOTA BARU: The state Pas fully supports the call made by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, on strict action to be taken against any party found guilty in the issue of the socks bearing the word 'Allah'.

"Malaysia was shocked by the sale of socks printed with the name of 'Allah' at one of the convenience store chains a few days ago.

"Following this, various parties have come forward to give their views in various versions. The main issue in this matter is related to the position of God's name that is placed in the wrong place.

"The fact is Allah's name is not to be printed on socks and placed on the feet at all.

"In this issue, Kelantan Pas fully supports the call made by His Majesty to take strict action against any party found guilty based on the authorities' investigation," said State Islamic Development, Dakwah, Information and Regional Relations committee chairman Mohd Asri Mat Daud tonight.

Mohd Asri said Kelantan Pas also invited all parties to 'open their eyes' to the issue of insulting Islam or any religion that can hinder the harmony of Malaysian society.

"We should not allow any party to insult or touch on religious matters with the wrong purpose.

"Therefore, all Muslims are called to be united in ensuring the interests of Islam as the religion of the Federation will not to be disturbed by any irresponsible party.

"This is because the responsibility of protecting Islam and exalting the name of Allah is borne by all Muslims regardless of their political party," he added.

Yesterday, Sultan Ibrahim expressed his displeasure and sadness that socks with the word 'Allah' were sold at a convenience store chain.

His Majesty reminded all segments of society to uphold national harmony and refrain from exploiting sensitive issues related to religion, ethnicity, and royalty.

"Only recently, I emphasised and reminded everyone on the importance of unity and mutual respect in my address in Parliament but still this issue has arisen," he said, adding it was important to maintain unity and mutual respect among the people.

Sultan Ibrahim said Muslims revere the word Allah and such matters which incite anger should not arise.

HIs Majesty then called for enforcement agencies to investigate and take the strictest action according to the existing laws so that the same mistake would not be repeated.
