Food Bank Siswa Programme to aid underprivileged students in Mukah

MUKAH: The Food Bank Siswa programme has been introduced as an effort designed to assist underprivileged or B40 students, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

Salihin Den, head of the Mukah branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) in Sarawak, announced that the programme will be implemented in collaboration between KPDN, higher education institutions (HEIs) such as public and private universities, polytechnics, and teacher training institutes, along with contributors to ensure the programme operates smoothly and systematically.

The initiative aims to address the rising living costs faced by students, reduce their financial burden, enhance their focus on studies, promote volunteerism, and expose them to organisational management.

For the 2024 iteration of the Food Bank Siswa, 101 Superman Speedmart Sdn Bhd has taken the lead as the first contributor and strategic partner for the Program Jualan Rahmah (PJR). Meanwhile, KPDN Mukah is inviting private sectors, supermarkets, bakeries, and corporate bodies interested in contributing to contact them, facilitating the coordination of donations.
