Female teacher allegedly involved in a relationship with her student suspended

NIBONG TEBAL: A female teacher suspected of having a relationship with her student has been relieved from her duties until the investigation is completed.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the teacher involved must comply with all investigation procedures before any action is taken by the ministry.

She said that the case is still under police investigation and the ministry is committed to cooperating with the relevant authorities to investigate the matter.

"It is still under investigation and we would like to emphasise that the ministry is fully committed to assisting the authorities in conducting the investigation.

"At the same time, we are currently taking an approach to fully protect our children. Therefore, the teacher has no access to the involved student," she said when met after a break of fast event here today.

Fadhlina was responding to a question, asking for the updates on the investigations involving a female teacher who allegedly engaged in a romantic relationship with a secondary school student.

On March 24, the police confirmed receiving a report of a female teacher who allegedly groomed her Form Five student.

Sepang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof when contacted said the report was lodged by a family member of the boy.

Earlier, the boy's sibling, believed to be his sister, shared the incident on X (formerly Twitter).

In a series of posts, which had since been deleted, she claimed that the teacher had been meeting her brother, despite being asked not to do so.

The sister said she had no choice but to use the power of going viral as the family no longer can stand the teacher's attitude.

Earlier at the event, Fadhlina, who is also Nibong Tebal member of parliament, handed out donations of RM140,000 to 21 mosques, 56 surau and 126 individuals comprising imam, bilal and siak in the constituency.
