Sabah to upgrade Paitan and Sook to full district status

PAITAN: Paitan and Sook sub-districts will soon gain full district status, said Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

Sabah First Info reported that the move is expected to enhance government services to the local population in line with their new status.

The Chief Minister mentioned that the upgrade of these areas to full districts is imminent, pending the resolution of technical issues related to administration and district boundaries.

"We have informed the State Secretary and relevant parties to expedite the process of upgrading these sub-districts to full districts," he stated.

During a recent breaking-of-fast event organised by the Ministry of Community Development and People's Wellbeing (CHECK) and the Paitan Sub-District Office, Hajiji expressed his optimism about the positive changes the upgrades will bring to the development landscape and the welfare of the residents.

Highlighting the commitment to the development of Paitan, Hajiji announced an allocation of RM2 million for the construction of a multipurpose hall to meet the community's needs.

He also discussed ongoing and future projects aimed at improving infrastructure and services, including road upgrades and water supply enhancements.

Hajiji's visit and announcements come amidst preparations for the upcoming state elections, where he urged strong local support for the state government's development initiatives.
