Sarawak's youth urged to become 'agents of unity'

SIBU: Sarawak's youth from diverse ethnic backgrounds have been urged to become agents of unity, embodying the spirit of leadership and guardianship for the future of Bumi Kenyalang, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department Datuk Abdullah Saidol said that young Sarawakians should have an identity that embraces universal humanitarian values of peace and love.

"I urge the youth not to be swayed by emotional sentiments and to steer clear of racial elements.

The multi-ethnic harmony and friendliness in Sarawak are the most 'beautiful' aspects of our community, and the cultural treasure of ethnic tolerance and closeness in Bumi Kenyalang must be proudly preserved and defended," he said during the UKAS 2024 Iftar Gathering on April 3.

The state government, led by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, prioritises human capital development among the younger generation, ensuring that the new economic policies of Sarawak will be inherited and managed by Sarawakians themselves.

Abdullah highlighted the importance of practical training for higher education students, particularly in Sarawak, who are encouraged to undertake industrial training within the Sarawak government departments. This initiative aims not only to provide work experience but also to offer insights into government administration functions.
