Titiwangsa MP's Hari Raya charity event benefits 500 p-hailing riders

KUALA LUMPUR: Titiwangsa Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, held a heartwarming Hari Raya charity programme aimed at supporting 500 p-hailing riders within the constituency.

The Minister of Plantation and Commodities highlighted that this initiative was just one among many of his charity programmes, all focused on gathering and aiding those in need.

Expressing his motivation behind the event, Johari emphasised the often-overlooked plight of delivery riders, particularly those working for platforms like Grab.

"We frequently see these hardworking individuals being sidelined. Today, we've brought together riders residing in Titiwangsa to extend a helping hand," he said.

The event, held outside the Umno Titiwangsa office in Desa Pandan, saw an enthusiastic response, with approximately 500 riders registering to benefit from the programme.

Meanwhile, Hairul Anwar Yuri, a part-time rider, lauded Johari's consistent efforts to support the community.

"Regardless of election outcomes, Datuk Johari has always been proactive in assisting Titiwangsa constituents," he remarked, expressing gratitude for being a recipient of the programme.

Participants were provided with essential cooking supplies, kuih raya and cash assistance.

Hairul, a resident of Desa Pandan, shared his four-year journey as a rider, highlighting the challenges faced in the evolving economic landscape.

He began working full-time as a rider but switched to part-time due to financial difficulties compounded by declining delivery revenue.

He expressed hope for increased government oversight to safeguard the welfare of delivery workers, ensuring their well-being amid economic fluctuations.
