KUALA LUMPUR: The nationwide police road safety campaign for the upcoming Raya festive season will start from Monday, April 8 until April 13, says Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
The 22nd Ops Selamat was virtually launched today, through a live broadcast on the Royal Malaysian Police's official Facebook page.
Razarudin, speaking at the launch, reminded holidaygoers to be vigilant and exercise patience during their travels back to their respective hometowns.
He advised road users planning to go back to their village, or go on vacation, to adopt these qualities when driving, for the safety and sake of their loved ones, to ensure that they reach their destinations safely.
"The relationship and closeness between the community and police is very important in ensuring that the Ops Selamat 22 campaign reaches its target.
"In conjunction with the celebration of the 'Lebaran', which is about to arrive, police are fully responsible to make sure the public feel safe and at ease while they are away for the celebration.
"Thus why this year's theme, 'Rumah Selamat, Selamat Sampai ke Destinasi' is most apt," he said.
