Heartbroken, but woman who lost husband, 2 kids in accident soldiers on

CHUKAI: Until a year ago, Norhafizah Sazwa Harun would celebrate Hari Raya with her husband and children like many others do, full of joy and happiness.

But on September 15 last year, Norhafizah's family changed forever when an accident claimed the life of her husband, Ammir Hussein Mohamad, 38, and her two children Ammzar Husszair Al Hussein, 4, and Ammzar Hussnayan Al Hussein, 1.

"I miss my husband and my two children, but I have to soldier on for my other two children," said Norhafizah, who was seven months pregnant at the time of the accident.

The family's multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) she was driving met an accident with a lorry near Bandar Cheneh Baru in Chukai, Terengganu.

She and her adopted eight-year-old child, Ammzar Hussniah Ammir Hussein Abdul Azim survived, as did the child she was carrying.

Norhafizah would give birth to the baby, Ammzar Hussnina Al Hussein Ammir Hussein several months later.

"This year Hari Raya feels gloomy. We miss them, especially Ammzar Husszair's antics. He was always so excited to celebrate Hari Raya," she said, adding she and her kids have since moved in with her father.

Norhafizah said she is not even cooking Nasi Dagang, her husband's favourite dish.

"Usually, that (Nasi Dagang) is a must-have dish because my husband loved it so much. The dish reminds me of him and that is why I don't want to make it."

She says still remembers her husband's advice to give alms to those in need whenever possible.

"Whenever I miss him, I will honour him (by giving alms) and that helps make me feel better," she said.
