Malaysia condemns Israeli attack on humanitarian aid workers in Rafah

KUALA LUMPUR: The Foreign Ministry has called for international intervention from the global community to unite against Israel's attacks on humanitarian aid convoys and volunteers.

In a statement tonight, it said Malaysia vehemently condemned the ruthless attacks by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) in Rafah that targeted and wounded humanitarian aid convoys and volunteers, including those affiliated with Ops Ihsan from Malaysia.

"The assault on humanitarian workers, volunteers, and unarmed individuals engaged in relief efforts has been unequivocally denounced by Malaysia, labeling such actions as wholly unacceptable.

"These shameless acts of violence perpetrated by Israel reek of cruelty and inhumanity beyond any comprehension or justification," said Wisma Putra.

Highlighting the urgency of international intervention, it said Malaysia wants the global community to demand an immediate cessation of Israel's indiscriminate acts, insisting that those responsible must be held accountable for their crimes.

"The narrative of Israel's self-defense measures has been shattered by its relentless aggression, particularly evident since October of the previous year.

"Contrary to past justifications, recent events have underscored Israel's role as the aggressor, further fueling calls for action from the international community," it read.

It added that the Israeli regime's imposition of obstacles and threats to volunteers safety have exacerbated the suffering of vulnerable Palestinians populations, including the elderly, sick, women, and children.

"This marks the second time Ops Ihsan's operations have been disrupted, needlessly endangering the lives of its dedicated volunteers. The first attack, occurring on March 14, resulted in the tragic loss of eight Palestinian lives and left over 20 others injured.

"As tensions escalate and humanitarian efforts face continuous impediments, Malaysia remains steadfast in its condemnation of Israel's actions and urges swift action to ensure the safety and well-being of all those affected by the conflict in Rafah and beyond," it said.
