Treasury engages hauliers on 'Fleet Card' for subsidised diesel

KUALA LUMPUR: Hauliers will be able to apply for a "Fleet Card" to continue enjoying diesel at subsidised prices once the government rolls out its subsidy rationalisation plan, says the Finance Ministry.

In a Facebook post, the ministry said Treasury secretary-general Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican met with logistics industry players yesterday on the plan.

To reduce the impact of subsidy rationalisation on the public, certain companies, including those involved in transporting goods, can still enjoy subsidised diesel.

Hauliers will be able to apply to be entitled to subsidised diesel under the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living's MySubsidi Diesel system.

"Once approved, they (hauliers) can obtain Fleet Cards from their preferred oil company to purchase the subsidised diesel," the ministry said.

"Through this subsidy rationalisation exercise, the government will be able to channel resources to those in need, including through Rahmah cash aid initiatives and other measures.

In February, the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry began a pilot project to testt the MySubsidi Diesel system with six selected hauliers.
